Discussion about water reclamation

Think that water reclamation can be a helpful tool for us to use in order to help solve drought problems. The phrase "toilet to tap" may seem off-putting to people but I think after looking into the purification process as well as understanding what is actually in the water, they will become more comfortable with the "toilet to tap" system. Informing the public about the details of the three processes after water has been treated (microfiltration, reverse osmosis, and ultraviolet disinfection), there would be a better overall understanding of how sanitary this process is. The stat, "As of 2015, the Orange County Water District treated 378 million liters (100 million gallons) of water daily, the amount that would meet annual water needs of 850,000 people (From)," is astounding in regards to helping drought problems and I think for this reason I am in favor of water reclamation. Water is something that we need to be careful with when spending resources and it was stated that, "The World Bank projected that, over the next century, the quantity of available water must increase by 25-60% to meet global needs, depending on how efficiently it is used (Asano)." Through water reclamation I think that we can meet these global needs. From my own experience, my family tries to limit the excessive water usage in our household by doing things such as limiting showering time and cutting back on outdoor watering. Having reclaimed water would be great thing to be able to utilize, especially due to the limits we need to be wary of daily in relation to saving water.
