Discussion about vietnam war and cold war timeline

Assignment task: Vietnam War and Cold War Timeline

A timeline is a visual representation of historical events, showing the order in which they occurred. Timelines allow us to understand history in broader terms than when we read a narrative account of history. When you "read" a timeline, you can see how events relate to each other chronologically, which may help you see other types of patterns and relationships among events

Directions: Use the following steps to create a time line that shows how the Vietnam War relates to the other events of the Cold War.

1) Draw a line below or on a separate piece of paper and place each of the following Cold War events at the appropriate date on the line:

1947 - President Truman issues the Truman Doctrine.

1948-1949 - The Berlin Blockade

1950-1953 - The Korean War

1960 - The U-2 Incident

1963 - President Kennedy is assassinated.

1969 - American astronauts land on the Moon.

2) Go back through today's lesson and write down important dates related to the Vietnam War and mark those important dates on the timeline too

3) Use a highlighter to color the portion of the timeline that represents years when the United States was involved in Vietnam
