My sister and I have always said that slavery has always been a global social concern for the many centuries behind us and it's sad to think that it even happens in different parts of the world at this moment. It is crazy to think that women were the first people enslaved through welfare and were valued for sexual purposes, reproduction, and labor. What hurts me the most about slavery is that they had no life, and it was ruined by all those people, the slaves' children were being sold, bartered, or traded. In my opinion, slavery affects anybody who is forced to work, marry and cannot refuse or leave is a victim of slavery.

With over 40 million men, women, and children in modern slavery according to the most recent estimates that I searched online, slavery is not a thing of the past.  There are slaves working on every continent, in every country, in all types of industries, and even in people's homes. What is even sadder is that 1 in every 4 modern slavery victims are children. Children are found in every type of slavery from labor to sex trafficking to forced marriage.  The youngest victim of forced marriage from the most recent statistics was 9 years old. In developed economies, the profits from modern slavery are greater per victim. According to estimates, modern slavery generated $46.9 billion in profits for the EU and other developed countries in 2014.  In comparison, with 7.6 victims per every 1,000 people, Africa has the highest incidence of modern slavery. Governments can inflict slavery as well as private companies or people. According to the most recent estimates, there are over 4 million slaves working for the State at any given moment. A few weeks to several years may pass while doing this task. Modern slavery, like child labor, has complicated root causes, such as poverty, conflict and disaster, cultural perspectives, and a lack of legal protections.  To free victims from slavery and ensure that they have respectable jobs, governments, employers, employees, and civil society must all make significant promises. This is the first step.
