Discussion about the global burden of disease project

Problem:

Include this information with the above text: Furthermore, the Global Burden of Disease Project predicted from 2002 to 2030 that substance use will be the fifth or sixth leading cause of death around the world (WHO, 2018). The first research on drugs in Africa was conducted by medical researchers in the 1960s, focusing on indigenous substances, and in the late 1970s, anthropologists focused on the use of cannabis in hospitals and schools (Klantschnig, 2022). However, research became stagnant and started again in the late 1990s from international organizations such as the United Nations and European entities who wanted to focus on the increased heroin and cocaine trade, law enforcement needs, and policy goals (Klantschnig, 2022). Nevertheless, during the course of the research, the rate of illicit drug use started rapidly increasing because the continent's location, which was used as an international drug trading hub, has now transformed into a drug consumer market (Acuda et al., 2011). In 1997, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime conducted a study on drug issues involving ten African countries: one from Central Africa, two from East Africa, three from Southern Africa, and four from West Africa. The study examined the economic, social, and political factors related to drug use (UNODC, 1999; Acuda et al., 2011). Need Assignment Help?
