Problem: Our goal for this course was to learn about terrorism and homeland security. This course was designed to provide background information for understanding terrorist movements in many parts of the world. In Part I, we focused on practical criminology including: historical issues, processes for radicalization, various types of terrorism, financial aspects of terrorism, the media and other influential factors, gender roles, tactics, and force multiplies. In the remaining portions (Parts II, III, and IV), we focused on such topics as motivating factors for international terrorism, jihadists movements/violence, international ideologies, religious terrorism, domestic terrorism, and homeland security.
