Discussion about sexually explicit books

Problem:

Is this article against the book band or for the book band? Wyoming Joint Judiciary Committee advances draft bill to purge libraries of "sexually explicit" books. Legislation would move "sexually explicit" books found in school libraries to adult sections of public libraries. Co-chair of the committee Rep. Jared Olsen said he feels as if books should be removed because they are "pornographic" and shouldn't be available to children and questioned why anyone would fight moving these books. Olsen and other members of the committee have faced backlash from librarians and teachers who feel the books they have singled out aren't inappropriate and the bill would limit access to books covering LGBTQ+ themes and trauma including Gender Queer and Lawn Boy. Representative Ken Chestek is one of three republicans who feel the bill should not move forward saying it violated parent's rights by letting some parents decide what content is available to all children. Olsen and other supporters of the bill feel comfortable with their decision because the books would be available in adult libraries and online retailers such as Amazon. Committee voted 11-2 to approve drafting the bill which needs a two- thirds vote from either house to be considered in the next legislative session. Need Assignment Help?
