Write the following emails following the 'scenario' prompts given. Use the 'direct pattern' for both. Include all the elements of a professional email as outlined in Week 4. Be sure to include a subject line in each scenario.
Scenario 1: You need to send email to your professor asking for a short extension on an assignment due Friday due to illness. You only need a few extra days, and can provide proof that you were sick. While the professor is friendly and accommodating, you have not communicated directly before.
Scenario 2: You are a manager supervising a team of over a dozen office workers with various positions and responsibilities. For a year-end performance review required by the company, you require updated CVs from all the employees in your department within the next 3-4 weeks. Compose an email requesting the updated CVs. You need to emphasize that any new training modules completed by employees, as well as any awards or other forms of recognition, should be mentioned.
A successful performance review could mean a bonus for you and your employees, so it is important you get this information, even if it is a bit of a hassle to get these documents.
