Assignment Task:
Stevie's family (mom, step-dad, Stevie, and two siblings) and they live in their car, parking wherever they can each night. Stevie has a hard time concentrating and sitting still in class. He often has tantrums, hits, throws things, curses at other students, and walks out of class. Often, after trantrums, Stevie can be found in the nurses office, having a difficult time breathing. These behaviors happen at all times during the school day, but seem most severe during math time, which he storms out of nearly every day. Stevie has also been caught many times trying to take extra of the school provided snacks and hide them in his backpack, for which his teacher will write him up for stealing when she catches him. He has been referred to special education for an Individualized Education Program (IEP) where they are considering assigning Stevie a one-to-one paraprofessional so Stevie can have someone with him throughout his entire day to help both academically and behaviorally.
