Discussion about immigration of early anglo americans

Assignment task:

When we look at the immigration of early Anglo Americans, we can see a pattern in they ways that some of them thought and operated. Many of them immigrated from slave states and there was a decent amount that also owned slaves. A portion of these settlers viewed themselves as racially superior to the Tejanos and thought of them as dishonest, ignorant, and backwards. These settlers also brought many customs and traditions from the United States to Mexico. Many where protestant Christians and actively engaged in the public practice of their beliefs which was prohibited in Mexico at the time. Which arguably the settlers viewed themselves as above the law. Which Corbett states "Belief in their own superiority inspired some Texans to try to undermine the power of the Mexican government." (S. Corbett, 2012) I would argue for the most part that the settlers did embrace their new Identity as immigrants to Mexico. Even though there were a small Majority who owned slaves they also held most of the wealth and government positions. These same people were vastly against the abolishment of slavery by the Mexican government. Even though the Mexican government tried to appease these slave owners by labeling their slaves as "Indentured Servants" it only deepened the divide between the Mexicans and Anglo Americans. A man named Haden Edwards after having a land agreement nullified by the Mexican Government due to his violation of the agreement. Led a group of Texans to take the Alcade of Nacogdoches prisoner. This led The Mexican army to mobilize and march on the town with the support of a force led by a man named Stephen Austin, who desired to show his support for the Country he now called home.
