Problem:
The largest health data breach ever recorded happened in 2024 involving Change Healthcare. A ransomware firm called BlackCat/ALPHV, infiltrated the security measures of the organization, and around 190 million electronic healthcare records were stolen (Alder, 2025). This is a massive amount of data that was held for a ransom of $22 million. Many different organizations relied on Change and the impact went as deep as patients being unable to obtain their prescriptions unless they had enough money to pay for them (Alder, 2025). Premera Blue Cross was subject to a breach in 2015 that affected around 11 million people, which included banking information. This breach resulted in subsequent settlements, one totaling $6.85 million (Office for Civil Rights (OCR), 2020). Need Assignment Help?
