Problem:
Chapter 1 in Nichols, M. & Davis, S. (2017). Family therapy concepts and methods. (11th ed.) explained that there was a shift in thinking with regard to therapeutic approaches in the 1950's, from individual therapy to family therapy, since the family started to be viewed as an entire unit rather than separate individuals. There were several terms introduced in this chapter.

2. Use an example not from your family, but from a family that is familiar to them, may choose a family from a popular TV show, movie or popular culture if they prefer.
3. Within this example, describe the impact of an event that occurred to that family and discuss how that even influenced the individuals and the family as a whole according to the term chosen (e.g., family rules, double bind, homeostasis, etc).
4. Describe any cultural variables that may have affected familial relationships and provide evidence for your opinion or theory.
