Problem: As Ohashi (2003) explained, Japanese politeness cannot be explained solely by Brown & Levinson's Politeness Theory. One example is the formulaic expression, Yoroshiku Onegaishimasu (YO), which can be both an FTA and non-FTA. Explain these two sides of YO pointed out and discussed by Ohashi (2003).
