My daughter and I always have a conflict about house chores. She does not like doing chores, but I have constantly reminded her that when I was her age, I always used to do tasks. We always argue about how long it takes to do one chore. Depending on the day, it could take her half an hour to get one chore done, whether it is folding laundry or drying and putting away dishes. Her most significant thing is too much talking or staring at the television screen while doing it. It has always been a battle with her doing chores ever since we started them with her.
I used two elements of the RERUN process. I used the understanding part of how there is so much laundry to be done and folded. My daughter asked for help, so I helped fold laundry with her since she was overwhelmed by doing it herself for a while. Then decided to negotiate, and now I have her switch and fold her laundry, which seems to be working so far.
