• Select any two of the four basic strategies used to preserve security (defense, deterrence, détente diplomacy, disarmament). Identify and describe what basic assumptions are made about the opponent according to each of the two strategies you chose.
• Give an example of each of the two strategies in current world politics and speculate on their effectiveness.
• Discuss whether there are new emerging security threats in the 21stcentury. Analyze which security strategies are effective to contain these new security threats. Give an example.
