Problem
The concepts of community engagement and building a culture of health are critical for public health professionals. Reflect on the work your group did this week and think about what you have learned about being a member of a community coalition required to prioritize and select community interventions that will be initiated. In a 250+ reflection, discuss the following:
A. Explain what it means to create a culture of health as a coalition member and why it is necessary to form cross-cultural partnerships within the community.
B. Reflect upon the issues, disagreements or breakdowns that occurred (or could have occurred) during the shared decision-making process for the CLC assignment this week. As a public health professional, discuss some of the major concerns you might now have about working on a coalition when there are disagreements that pertain to health disparities for at-risk groups, knowing that you are helping to make public health policies may affect them.
C. Discuss what leadership principles you can apply as a member to mitigate issues, demonstrate cultural humility and improve the ability to collaborate among the group.
