You need to reflect on your own life's previous and current experiences and come up with a personal example of a resilient person. Write 7 concrete points about  factors that contributed to your well-being that also built your resilience, which is about developing the ability to cope with adversity, adapt to change, and bounce back from difficult situations. Please make sure you give an example of psychological strength building from your own life. For instance, one theme that runs in most of the cases is building strong relationships, your social support system is one of biggest determinant of your resilience.

According to APA Resilience is defined as:

Resilience is the process and outcome of successfully adapting to difficult or challenging life experiences, especially through mental, emotional, and behavioral flexibility and adjustment to external and internal demands.

A number of factors contribute to how well people adapt to adversities, predominant among them:

  • the ways in which individuals view and engage with the world
  • the availability and quality of social resources
  • specific coping strategies
  • Psychological research demonstrates that the resources and skills associated with more positive adaptation (i.e., greater resilience) can be cultivated  and practiced.
