Problem 1: How did the transition from premodern society to the modern, industrialized world influence the organization of society and the kind of relationships people have within society? You should relate your response to the observations of Durkheim and/or Tonnies, although you do not have to mention either of these. You may also extend your response beyond their observations.
Problem 2: Tonnies and Durkheim seem to imply that the kind of communal organization and communal relations that existed in the past will no longer continue. Does this mean that we are no longer able to establish "community" per se? Explain why or why not.
Problem 3: How might a community within the modern world look different from a community in the premodern world? Give some examples of how the community looks in the modern world.
