It can be clearly seen that both the Greeks and the Romans were used of God in spreading Christianity, unwittingly through oppression, in the case of the Romans by their insistence on emperor worship which contributed to the spread of Christianity as a religion of rebellion, and social oppression which contributed to the rise of monasticism.
