Discussion Post: Autism Spectrum Disorder
• Review the autism spectrum disorder case in Brown and Barlow (2017).
• Review the following video:
o "David: Autism Spectrum Disorder" (located in the MyPsychLab, Video Series link).
• Discuss the video case of David. According to DSM-5 diagnostic criteria, explain whether the individual either meets or does not meet full criteria for the diagnosis, based on the symptoms reported in the video. Although David was not diagnosed until he was an adult, discuss the symptoms of his disorder as they manifested throughout this lifetime.
• Discuss the differential diagnosis. (i.e., several disorders may have overlapping symptoms. Which other diagnoses have similar symptoms, and why would they not be diagnosed in this particular case?
The response should include a reference list. Using double-space, Times New Roman 12 pnt font, one-inch margins, and APA style of writing and citations.
