Discuss the various differences between naturalizations

Assignment:

Your group will work on immigration data, namely naturalizations (Form N-400). The project will have two parts:

1. Univariate (ordescriptive) analysis of key variables, and

2. Bivariate/Multivariate (orinferential) analysis between key variables.

You can use the tables provided in the Datasets area or look at the DHS website here: https://www.dhs.gov/immigration-statistics/naturalizations. Your groups project will look at the various differences between naturalizations in 2012 and 2013. Naturalizations Data Tables and Naturalizations Supplementary Data Tables Tables provide data in Excel format which you can import in SPSS easily.

You are free to pose hypotheses you want and test them. Make sure to use as many statistical tests (t-test, ANOVA, correlation, regression, etc.) as you can.

The general idea is to use what we have learned in the course to create a meaningful report of differences and/or relationships between variables of interest, such as country of birth, year of lawful permanent resident, year of naturalization, etc.

It would be prudent to read similar research on the topic here:

Among other things you can do in your project, it will be a good idea to predict and report how many naturalizations would occur in in the future (if your data end in year 2015, predict naturalizations for year 2016, even though it has already occurred), based on the data you have using regression.
