For this assignment, plan and write an essay of 3-4 pages, typed and double-spaced on any of the topics listed. As with the first short essay, you are required to reference 2 critical articles in your essay. You must approach the topics below through the lens of social responsibility—defined as: an organization or individual has an obligation to act to benefit society at large. All the topics must be in relation to social responsibility. Critical article topics may be from any of the following: power relationships, abandonment, bullying, hunting and bloodlust, coming of age, survival instinct, peer groups, gender, politics. You must choose from the following topics related to social responsibility:
• William Golding writes: “The theme (of Lord of the Flies) is an attempt to trace the defects of society back to the defects of human nature. The moral is that the shape of society must depend on the ethical maturity of the individual and not on any political system however apparently logical or respectable.” What is your position on Golding’s statement?
