Students will obtain a budget for a school district or institution of higher education for the 2017-18 school year or the 2018-19 school year. The student will compare the budget to the institutional goals (ex: LCAP for a district or a strategic plan for a college/university). The student should also consider the demographics of the district or institution.

Based on this information, the student will write a 3 to 4 page analysis of how the district or institution support district/institutional goals associated with equity, adequacy, and/or access through its budgeting choices. Students should consider the organization as a whole and discuss the intended and unintended consequences of budgeting choices. The student should highlight one budgeting choice that they think is good (and is supported by literature) and one choice that needs revision (and is supported by literature).
