The 68020 microprocessor has almost the same instruction set as its predecessor. the 68000, and yet represents a giant leap forward in terms of its architecture. Indeed, you might reasonably say that the 68020 represents a high point in terms of the development of mainstream von Neumann architectures. Discuss the truth, or otherwise, of the above statement.
