The members of your faculty are in an uproar over the expansion of required hours of service to cover the cost of other cutbacks. All faculty members are being asked to provide an additional three hours each week in the forms of administrative duties; these could involve calling parents of absent students, notifying parents that a student is in danger of failing, filing paperwork for the school office, answering incoming calls to the school, etc. The faculties are upset more because these tasks are not specifically "academic," and they feel they are a waste of their time. The other option is to fire up to three faculty members to cover the cost of these tasks.
