Question 1. Southem California has long been fertile ground for conservative movements - from the origins of the open shop in Los Angeles, to the anti-tax and NIMBYism of the 1970s and 1980s, to Donald Trump. Will California ever become a fertile ground for progressive movements? If "yes", identify the one key cause of the shift in politics. If "no", explain a single major reason why.
Question 2. CSU students are getting more diverse, while at the same time funding has slowed down. But California as a whole is also getting more diverse. In the future, will funding for the CSU increase due to pressure from this more-diverse voting base?
Question 3. We discussed the significance of unionizing the warehouse workers in the Inland Empire. Will the future of the labor movement depend mostly on pressures to organize, or will other changes need to happen in order for it to succeed?
