The federalist system requires a balance of power between the federal government and state governments. In your view, does either have too much power? If a conflict exists among federal and state laws, how should that conflict be resolved? The power of judicial review allows courts to strike down a statute that is unconstitutional. Should a federal judge who is unelected be able to stop a law passed by elected officials? Why or why not? Federal judges have lifetime appointments and can only be removed through impeachment. Discuss the pros and cons of such a system.
