Identify an Issue
The goal of the Assignment Project is to develop your own case study. Each SLP will require you to develop a component of the case study and you will submit a complete case study in Module 4 at the end of the course.
The components are outlined below:

Read: Meet the Grassroots Leaders: Jane: Academic Affairs Professional at Polytech Institute (p. 79 - 83), Mike: Athletics Administration at a Research University (p. 83 - 86), and Veronica: Administrative Assistant (p. 90 - 94) in:
Kezar, A. J., & Lester, J. (2011). Enhancing Campus Capacity for Leadership: An Examination of Grassroots Leaders in Higher Education. Stanford, California: Stanford University Press. (Uploaded)
Consider an issue in higher education that you have encountered (it can be related to policy and procedure, equity and access, student success, funding, etc.) that is important to you. Consider why it is important to you as it relates to your individual motivation and individual identity.
After reading the profiles, compose a 2 page paper that includes the following components:
1. Discuss your professional experience in higher education(my professional experience is healthcare and nursing - (End stage renal disease and dialysis is my specialty)
a. What issue, within the discipline of higher education, have you observed? Please elaborate on (Lack of funding)
b. Why is this issue important to you?
2. Discuss the role of your individual motivation in the selection of this issue
3. Discuss the role of your individual identity in the selection of this issue- Answer this question based on a Senior Director overseeing five healthcare systems. My background is nursing, Business Administration, Degree in Leadership; now working on my Masters in Education. Funding has been challenging.
Assignment Expectations
Your work should be written with the following points in mind.
• This paper should be at least 2 pages, not counting the title page and reference page.
• A clear introduction that orients a reader to the essay main content, and the main points discussed should be provided.
• A well-developed, well-balanced essay body that develops each point in its own paragraph should be included.
• A concise conclusion that summarizes the whole essay should also be included.
• Include at least three references. Quoted material should not exceed 10% of the total paper (since the focus of these assignments is critical thinking). Use your own words and build on the ideas of others. When material is copied verbatim from external sources, it must be enclosed in quotes.
• The references should be cited within the text and also listed at the end of the assignment in the References section. Follow the APA Style® format; see www.apa.org. Include page & paragraph
• At least one in-text citation must be provided for each reference.
• A reference page which follows APA requirements should be included.
• The essay should be organized in a clear and coherent manner.
• The paper should be double spaced with font size of 12.
• Your writing should:
a. Be clear, logical, and precise
b. Have breadth and depth
c. Show critical thinking skills
