In 1861 a weird fossil was found that looked half-dinosaur and half-bird, which scientists named Archaeopteryx ("the old winged one"). With deeper studies, this fossil proved to be the link between dinosaurs and birds, letting us know that every bird you see today is actually a "winged dinosaur."
