Assignment Problem: On April 12, 2015, Freddie Carlos Gray Jr., a 25-year-old Black man, was arrested by the Baltimore City Police Department over his legal possession of a knife. While being transported in a police prisoner van, Gray sustained injuries and was taken to a hospital, Gray died on April 19, 2015; his death was ascribed to injuries to his spinal cord. Because the officers failed to secure Gray in the transport van, Gray's death was ruled a homicide by the medical examiner. The Baltimore County prosecutor Marilyn Mosby secured indictments against the six officers involved.
