Assignment Problem: Discuss the issue of gun control from the standpoint of your views on the Second Amendment's clause that protects the right of the people to keep and bear arms. Would it be immoral to ban private ownership of firearms, since a law-abiding citizen would then be less able to protect himself from a robber/rapist/killer? Would it be immoral for a government, including a municipality, to require that every household possess at least one firearm? Might there be some middle ground? Do the recent mass shootings bear on this constitutional issue? Do police response (or unresponsiveness) and law-abiding citizens who are armed have an impact on mass shooting issues.
