"Discuss the implications of individual freedom and organisational control to the future organisation."

CONTENTS OF THE WRITTEN ASSIGNMENT

1. The report is expected to have a professional presentation and marks will be awarded for having a suitable layout and length that is written with an acceptable use of business English. The report should be between 4,000 - 6,500 words as a guide. No penalties will apply if these are exceeded.

The report should include an abstract or executive summary that briefly summarises to aims and main conclusions of the report. The main text should be divided into a logical sequence that identifies the problems and includes correctly cited illustrations (diagrams, graphs and tables). It is essential to include correctly cited references for all text and concepts originating from other authors.

This Assessment gives scope for a great variety of responses. Given that, it would be extremely odd if two participants happened to produce similar reports - any such similarities would be fairly easy to detect. Appropriate penalty would be applied under such circumstances.

MARKING SHEET

It is expected that definitions, illustrations and case studies are used to support the topics discussed.

The exact format of the report is left to you but a proportion of the marks will be awarded for professionalism and clarity. Comprehension of the main text attracts up to 80% of the available marks. To maximise marks, the areas should be covered approximately with equal rigour.

A further 20% of the Module grade will be allocated for research effort and presentation. Participants must research relevant books, journals, etc. You are advised to show clearly cited references for the exact source of concepts, case studies and theory that you quote. Quality of business English as well as the effective use of illustrations will be favourably considered when grading the Assessment.
