Discussion 2

From the e-Activity, specify how the illegal drug market operates:

• The illegal drug market appears to be difficult, but in fact it is a simple, process. It first begins with a demand, which intern cause a producer to fill that demand, which produces the need for the drug dealers or sellers. If there are addicts there will always be someone willing to take the risk to feed the addict addiction. Shortage of demand often pushes the price up on one drug, which causes the user to find an alterative until they have the mean to buy the product of choice. It is a vicious cycle that some are never able to shake.

• Next, take a position on whether or not the current "war on drugs" initiatives are working to reduce the supply of illegal drugs that are demanded, in the U.S., by the situational drug abuser, party or weekend user, and/or the drug addict.

America has a history of placing thing in the reach of certain societies and then complaining about a problem that was started by our very own government. I personally believe whether it is prescription drugs, or illegal drugs the government always has it hand in there somewhere. I don't believe the war on drugs are working because on one hand they are taking them off the street then turning around and putting them back on the street.

• Provide a rationale to support your response and respond to no less than one of your peers.

I believe our government is its own worst enemy. I.E. the government came up with a method to help save the life of people who has over dosed on opioid (heroin), which I believe is a great thing because they issue Narcan injector to addicts for free, but some of these drugs are funded by moneys give to the same countries who grew the drugs and import them into the United States. We have to do better at policing our country. No matter what our government does, drugs will never be eradicated. It is a trillion-dollar business and our government wants, their share of that trillion dollars. This is why marijuana is being legalized in states. So now that some states have legalize marijuana, do you think people who are in jail only because of their use or dealing should they be freed?
