Assignment:
Human trafficking involves the use of force, fraud, or coercion to obtain some type of labor or commercial sex act. It is a business that steals freedom for profit. It is a global problem that earns perpetrators billions and billions of dollars. Human trafficking is the umbrella for sex trafficking (including organized prostitution and pornography) and labor trafficking. This problem is also looming large in the United States.
Men, women, boys, and girls are trafficked from other countries to the U.S. and from the U.S. into other countries. From sex trafficking within escort services to labor trafficking of farmworkers, the ways humans are exploited differ greatly. Each type has unique strategies for recruiting and controlling victims and concealing the crime. Sadly, children are also victimized lending to the problem of child sex trafficking. Child sex trafficking refers to the recruitment, harboring, transportation, provision, obtaining, patronizing, or soliciting of a minor for the purpose of a commercial sex act.
What makes the investigation of these cases is the fact high level officials and law enforcement are some of the perpetrators. Society is not as informed as it should be be. Review each of the following videos to complete this discussion.

With so many of these type activities being hidden in plain sight, what type of research can benefit the public or raise more awareness?
If apprehended, should first time offenders be treated differently from those who do not have a record?
Should law enforcement officials who are perpetrators be treated differently from regular citizens?
Should the victims be treated as criminals?
Do you agree or disagree that a large number of victims come from the homeless, runaway, and missing persons populations?
