Topic # 1: Discuss the Great Reforms of the 1860s. What factors brought them about? What goals did the tsarist government seek to achieve by means of the reforms? What were their most important consequences? Were the reforms successful?
Topic # 2: Assess the social and economic policies of the Russian government in the late nineteenth - early twentieth century. What was their impact upon the Russian society? Was it positive or negative? Did these policies help to postpone the revolution or did they precipitate its arrival?
Topic # 3: Discuss late Imperial Russia's foreign policy
What goals did it pursue? What were the most important challenges that it faced in the late nineteenth and the early twentieth century? Was this policy successful?
