Punishment has long been an argumentative subject within our judicial system. The primary focus of punishment is to deter one from conducting deviant behavior before it happens. In saying this, there are those who argue that the court system continually hands down extreme and cruel punishment for crimes. Punishment has long been a focus of criminologist for years.
