An international organization that evaluates democracies around the world is seeking to hire an expert on U.S. federal politics and California state politics. The director of the organization hires you on the spot and gives you your first task:
"Write a memo in which you do two things: 1 compare and contrast the U.S. federal government and the California state government in terms of the three branches (legislative, executive, and judicial) and 2 describe what direct democracy actually is in California, and give your own opinion about it."
