Homework: Examining Research-Based Solutions
Overview
In this homework, you will analyze research reports that are relevant to a selected problem in professional practice, (LACK OF PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT IN FAMILY CHILD CARE) then you will determine the transferability of that research.
Because this homework furthers the research you did in your first homework and will also prepare you for the final homework in this course, it is recommended (but not required) that you use the same selected problem in your professional practice for all three homework in this course.
Preparation
Choose the problem in professional practice that you would like to explore. It should be a problem or issue in your workplace or future field which you have some interest in solving or improving.
Search the library databases for educational research articles. Find two research reports that address your topic and problem. The research reports must be from the last five years, and they must be peer-reviewed, original research articles from a journal. These should be research reports, not reviews of the literature or theoretical articles.
Instructions
Your homework is an 800 to 1200 words paper.
Your paper should include the following sections:
Introduction
First, offer a brief introduction to the topic of your paper and present a thesis or purpose statement for your homework at the end of your introduction.
Title the sections below:
Describe a Problem in Your Field of Professional Practice
Describe your chosen problem within your field of professional practice in a concise and meaningful manner. When describing the problem, be sure to explain why it is a detriment to professional practice.
Analyzing Two Research Reports
Analysis of Article One
Your analysis should cover the following points:
1. A brief summary of the article.
2. A description of how the researchers researched the issue.
3. How many participants were involved in the research project?
4. How the researchers gathered their data.
5. The findings of the research project.
A thorough evaluation of a research project includes recognizing the strengths and limitations of the research project. You may consider including this in your analysis.
Analysis of Article Two
Follow the same guidance as offered in the section above for analyzing the first article.
Examining Transferability of Research Findings to Your Professional Practice
Discuss the extent to which the research findings of the two articles you analyzed offer insight into and solutions for the problem in professional practice you described at the beginning of this homework. Be sure to address the following issues, and format your paper with a subsection for each:
1. Assess similarities and differences between the participants described in the research reports and the participants in your place of professional practice.
2. Assess the differences between the research sites and your place of professional practice.
3. Assess whether or not the participants and researchers have the knowledge, experience, or expertise necessary to inform your professional practice.
4. Discuss whether or not the research findings offer insight into developing meaningful and creative solutions to the problem in your professional practice.
Conclusion
Briefly describe the key principles to apply when you are using research results to improve your professional practice.
Format your homework according to the give formatting requirements:
1. The answer must be double spaced, typed, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides.
2. The response also includes a cover page containing the title of the homework, the course title, the student's name, and the date. The cover page is not included in the required page length.
