The Arab American culture today often faces some of the most intense intolerance, prejudice, and hate crimes in the US. As multicultural educators, we further understand that teaching and learning is a cross-cultural encounter and that teachers and students come to the classroom with "cultural baggage." What can teachers do personally and in the classroom to create better understanding and appreciation of this cultural group and to address the educational needs of Arab American students?
