1. You are an intern for one of the American delegates to the International Olympic Committee. Next week your boss will sit in on a meeting discussing the eligibility of a 200 m sprinter that is a bilateral amputee. She asks you to put together 1000 or more words describing the state of current running blade technology, how this technology might have an impact on the athlete's performance, and public opinion on the "fairness" of amputees with advancing technology. Plus any information you find pertinent to the topic.
2. You are an associate at Excel Sports Management. Your boss's top client is in his 5th NFL season and while snowboarding in New Zealand during the off season suffers a Maisonneuve fracture. Your client sent a short text message to your boss with this information just before going into surgery and with the time change will not be able to communicate again until tomorrow midday. Your boss asks you to put together a report about this type of injury for the end of day meeting. In 1000 words or more, include how this injury happens, what the treatments are, and what kind of recovery is expected.
3. You have just received your third concussion of the season and the team doctor tells you that you that continued play could be of great danger to your health and wellbeing. You vaguely remember a professor in college babbling on about concussions but you decide you need to do your own research before you make such an important decision. In 1000 words or more, explain how a concussion is caused (talk about Newton's Laws for full credit), discuss the damage caused to the brain, and the dangers/effects of repeated concussions.
4. In 1000 words or more give me two examples of how you will put what you have learned in functional biomechanics to use when you go out into the world and become a professional in your chosen field or in your personal life. Be detailed-let me know what you have learned.
