Assignment
In this course, work with a certified K-12 teacher who instructs in a full or partial distance learning classroom. The classroom may be synchronous or asynchronous, but you will need to obtain access to the digital environment in which they are instructing their class.
Interviewing your mentor teacher and if possible, the technology coach or an administrator from the same school. This may be done face-to-face or using a live digital communication tool such as Zoom. Interviews may be conducted as one group interview or done separately in multiple interviews.
1. Explaining how the policies, procedures, and curriculum were developed or chosen for the online environment.
2. Describing the training and support provided for teachers, both new and those continuing professional development. Specifically, discuss the importance of and opportunities for online discussion and collaborative learning.
3. Discussing the culture of the school, including teachers, families and student, and supports provided to families and students just starting or struggling in the online environment.
4. Developing at least two additional questions to ask during the interview.
Reflect on your interviews. Discuss each of the provided topics, including policies, procedures, and curriculum development, teacher training and support, and school culture. Include your additional questions and summarize the responses provided.
