PROMPT: During the seventeenth century, race-based slavery was very important in the New World. Discuss the concept of blackness and how Europeans used it to justify their enslavement of Africans.
As you reflect upon this statement, please also include your thoughts as to why/how skin color continues to be an issue in modern US history and society.
