INSTRUCTIONS:
This discussion board will focus on the Civil Rights Movement. For this week's discussion, please respond to the following prompts:
1.) The Civil Rights Movement of the 1950s and 1960s placed a large emphasis on the value of nonviolent resistance and protest. What do you think is the value of using the types of tactics used by the Civil Rights Movement as a way to protest something? Meaning, why do you think the movement prioritized that form of resistance?
2.) Think about some of the civil rights problems and discrimination you see in our society today. What do you see as some of the major civil rights problems in our society today and can we learn anything from the Civil Rights Movement that could be used to address our modern-day problems? Can any of the tactics and strategies used by the Civil Rights Movement be used today? Explain your response.
