Discuss the aspect of history that you chose to relate to

Choose an article or articles that deal with the current issues and/or protests surrounding the Dakota Access Pipeline and write a 2-3 page response about how you think it relates to the President Andrew Jackson's Indian removal policies, Indian Removal Act, and/or the Trail of Tears.

Your discussion is partially opinion-based but you will need to support your thoughts and ideas with details and examples from your textbook and current event and possibly other sources.

Be sure to follow these additional guidelines:

· Provide brief summary of the current event.

· Discuss the aspect of history that you chose to relate to the current event.

· Discuss how you think the current event you chose is relevant to the aspect of history that you chose. For example, if you chose to relate a current story on human trafficking to the Middle Passage.

· Briefly discuss your reaction to and/or assessment of the current event.

· Use specific information and/or examples to support your thoughts and ideas.

· Use at least two sources: your textbook and the current event.

· Be creative in how you think about the relationship between the current lesson and what is happening in the world today. There are no right or wrong answers. The key is to fully explain how you believe the current event and history relate.

· Cite all sources using MLA style in-text citations and work cited. Feel free to use the library website as a guide

or any other online citation resources. Also keep in mind that MS Word has a built-in citation tool.

Format guidelines:

· 2-3 pages

· 12 inch Times New Roman font

· 1 inch margins

· Typed and double-spaced

· Use proper grammar and spelling.
