Essay:
Standing during the National Anthem at any event involving the United States is part of the American Civil Religion tradition of patriotism. Therefore, anyone NOT standing in solemn reverence (or at least standing in silence) is showing complete disrespect towards America and its traditions and values.
You may either argue that this statement is true OR you may argue that it is false (you may take either side in your essay). Do NOT take both sides of the argument. You must choose one side or the other of this argument and use our readings and discussions from class to support your argument. This is a short essay between 250 to 300 words.
