Jeremy, a 16-year old male has been seeing you for counseling to address substance abuse issues. Jeremy shared with you that he began using alcohol following the death of his father two years ago. Jeremy shared that he does not know how to move on without his father and using alcohol takes the edge off of his pain. Jeremy shared that he does not have another outlet because his mother is tied up in her own grief and all of his friends have distanced themselves from him because they are afraid of triggering his emotions.
