Please respond to this discussion post, with a meaningful interaction with a minimum of 250 words at a tenth grade level. For my research topic, I would like to study PTSD in veterans focusing on the causes, impacts and treatments as well as processing grief, bereavement and coping mechanisms. I chose this topic because it hits close to home. I have seen firsthand the negative impact of Combat PTSD in a close friend, as well as with my dad who experienced it as a police officer and my husband who is dealing with Complex PTSD. When someone is experiencing PTSD they are experiencing some of the toughest moments of their life and often it is difficult to find consistent mental help and support. I want to be able to understand different approaches and as I mentioned in my last post help those suffering find health and positive coping mechanisms to live a happy life. My future vision is to help improve treatment approaches for those dealing with PTSD and grief. Once my research is complete I would hope to contribute to a more personalized and competent care for veterans. In Dunbar's research he found 50-75% of research results are unexpected and that researchers tend to dump the data and results if it didn't match their hypothesis. (Newman. 2016).
