Discuss sources we have not read in class

Problem: Professional Identity Inquiry

For this first major problem, you are to develop a three-page that answers the following question:

• "In the 21st century, what values, traits, and/or practices should define either (i) the computer scientist or (ii) the healthcare professional?"

At this point in the course, you have reviewed texts that answer this question in a variety of ways. The professional codes of ethics from the Association for Computing Machinery and the American Public Health Association explicitly outline what values members of their fields should aspire to. The documentaries we have watched as a class provide a closer look at professionals at work within a range of contexts, both contemporary and historical. Lastly, our faculty have provided their own reflections on the important role of reading, writing, and research in particular plays within their fields.

Your primary goal, then, is to synthesize the points of view within, and perhaps even add to, this existing conversation. For this , you will advance an argument based largely in the sources we have read in class. You may discuss sources we have not read in class, though this is not required. You must cite at least TWO sources, though many students will cite more.

Read or watch the assigned readings and resources in Units One, Two, and Three.

o Criminal justice majors may read and review New Perspectives in Policing and/or IACP's Code of Ethics. Criminal justice majors may also apply ideas from course readings and resources that relate to other disciplines.

The response must include a reference list. Using Times New Roman 12 pnt font, double-space, one-inch margins, and APA style of writing and citations.
