• Despite anti-discrimination laws and affirmative action efforts, women and people of color are still underrepresented in the field of policing. This is true in the Las Vegas, just like many places in the country.
• Using the textbook, class notes and any other material(s), discuss why certain categories of people are underrepresented in policing.
• Discuss some of the benefits of increasing women and people of historically underrepresented background (such as people of color) in the police force. Put differently, what are the benefits of having a police force that more closely reflects the actual demographics of the city/county they are employed in?
• Can you think of any instances or examples of how the Las Vegas area specifically would benefit from having a more diverse police force?
