American policy has done this multiple times with the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Voting Rights Act of 1965, Equal Pay Act of 1963, and the Fair Housing Act of 1968. Although we have policy, disadvantages still arise that result in an unequal reality for many. Social constructs, such as race, gender, and socioeconomic status play huge roles in this.
