Discuss-shadow is the underside of the personality

Problem: The shadow is the underside of the personality, the inferiorities of the person that are emotional in nature and too unpleasant to willingly reveal (Jung, 1959a). Jung believed that the shadow is a moral problem for the ego because it may resist moral control. This resistance may be bound up in projection-a person sees some of her or his unsavory qualities in other people. From an African perspective, this kind of projection may be rather common (G. Kwame Scruggs, 2003, personal communication). Jung was sometimes evasive when writing about the shadow. Although he refused to clearly indicate that its contents included Freud's primitive biological instincts, it does apparently contain the physical urges. However, there is more to it. The shadow is manifested as the crude, bumbling, immature, incomplete side of us. It is the worst of us; it is what causes us to do what we do when "the devil made us do it." But the shadow is important. If the self is to evolve from potential to actual, it must fully acknowledge and deal with the contents of the shadow, as well as the ego and persona. Shorten and rewrite. Need Assignment Help?
